Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Learning Partner

Volunteer Learning Partners assist trainers in the classroom for adults who have low literacy and language skills.

Community Garden

Our Community Garden is run by volunteers in the community. Our volunteers work together to develop and maintain the community garden.

If you are interested in woodwork, carpentry, brickwork or gardening then this is the group for you. The group meets weekly and will be working on various construction projects within the community garden. It's a great way to meet others, share skills and get outdoors.

Information and Referral Support

Provide information, referral, support, advocacy and negotiation for members of the Cardinia Shire community on a wide range of subjects, i.e. Centrelink, utility bills, housing difficulties. Training and support is provided.

Volunteer Driving Program

Volunteer drivers are required to use their own car and must have a suitable vehicle in order to drive local residents who are unable to drive to medical and other necessary appointments. Volunteers are reimbursed for their driving expenses.

Volunteer Program Facilitator

Program facilitator volunteers run classes where they share their specialised skills and passions with the general community.

Volunteer Tax Help

Tax help volunteers help people with straight forward tax matters including giving advice on lodging a tax return and helping with claims for the family tax benefit and the refund of franking credits. Where possible returns are lodged electronically using e-tax. ATO training provided.

Research tells us that volunteering makes people happier and healthier than those who don't volunteer.

Volunteers at Living & Learning are a major part of our program and volunteer their time, skills and experience, and in one way or another make a huge contribution to our local community.

Screening volunteers is an important step in our recruitment process and in order to protect our volunteers and users of the centre, all volunteers are required to undergo a Police Check or Working with Children's check where appropriate.

Volunteer training is required for some positions.
