English as an Additional Language (EAL) Tutor – Level 2 & 3

About the role/s

2 positions available:
Position 1 – 15 hours per week. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (3 x 5 hours)
Position 2 – 5 hours per week. Tuesday (1 x 5 hours), Co-delivery basis (shared with another tutor)

We are looking for qualified and experienced casual EAL tutors who can deliver in our Living & Working in Australia – Levels 2 & 3 courses in 2024. Courses are scheduled to run on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (5 hours per day) during terms 1, 2, 3, and 4. The EAL tutors will be responsible for all aspects of course delivery, including pre and post participant assessment, face-to-face teaching, session planning and evaluation, course moderation and development, and general administration.

The positions are part of a small and friendly teaching pool, which is overseen by a supportive and encouraging management team.

The courses are delivered at Living & Learning Pakenham’s Learn Local centre at 6b Henry Street, Pakenham.

The ideal candidate

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria*:

  1. Bachelors degree in LOTE or TESOL qualifications
  2. Cert IV Training and Assessment
  3. Teaching experience, especially with students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  4. Knowledge of the EAL Framework, guidelines and standards
  5. High level verbal and written communication skills
  6. Strong organisational and planning skills
  7. Experience conducting pre and post training assessments
