This is an exciting workshop aimed at women and designed to demystify the sometimes scary world of home maintenance and engaging good tradies.
In addition many women are seeking to enter the trades/construction workforce and the workshop will provide talks on careers for women working with tools, and career pathways for women in construction.
Special Guest Speakers
Cr Jack Kowarzik, Mayor of Cardinia Shire and Cr Graeme Moore, Deputy Mayor of Cardinia Shire, who are both experienced in the trades and engineering industries, will speak on:
- Hiring reliable tradespeople
- Ensuring safety when tradespeople are in your home
- Negotiating work within your home
- Ensuring any changes to agreed work are communicated
- How to perform simple jobs at home
Miranda Luck, SES, will talk about:
- Careers for women working with tools in the SES
Elizabeth Cronin, Chisholm Skills and Job Centre will talk about:
- Study and career pathways for women in the construction industry
